Laser Skin Treatments

Photofacial (for color correction)

This treatment has many names, photofacial, IPL and BBL, for example. It is the gold standard of treatment for treating solar keratosis (sunspots), age spots, liver spots and post-acne blemishes. It addresses any of those unwanted skin discolorations that come from too much sun and aging skin. It also is great for reducing the redness of rosacea and removing those tiny capillaries that tend to develop around our nose.

Depending on the severity of the condition and your specific skin type, most people can see up to a 75% reduction in those irregularities of color in one treatment! This simple 45-minute procedure includes collagen-stimulating LED therapy! Minimal downtime, a typical "sunburned" sensation post-treatment is expected. Our clients walk out the door with sunscreen and makeup, if needed.

PLEASE NOTE: this treatment is contraindicated in Melasma and will worsen pigment in those with this condition, a thorough skin assessment is required before this treatment and all Retin-A, retinoid-like, retinol products must be discontinued 2 weeks prior to treatment.

Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal is a medical procedure that uses a concentrated beam of light (laser) to remove unwanted hair. During laser hair removal, a laser emits a light that is absorbed by the pigment (melanin) in the hair. The light energy is converted to heat, which damages the tube-shaped sacs within the skin (hair follicles) that produce hairs. This damage inhibits or delays future hair growth. Laser hair removal is most effective for people who have light skin and dark hair, but it can be successfully used on all skin types.

If you have darker skin, it does not mean you cannot have laser hair removal, it just means you will require less energy to prevent a burn and therefore, more sessions to achieve the desired result. If you have blonde, gray, red or lighter colored hair, the lasers become less and less effective. Laser hair removal is not recommended for those hair colors.

Laser treatment effectively delays hair growth for long periods, and permanent hair removal requires multiple laser treatments (6-8 in most cases) done every 4-8 weeks. Maintenance treatments are also required periodically, especially if you experience hormonal changes that trigger regrowth, like pregnancy, menopause or hormone based birth control, etc.

We offer hair removal services for most any area on the body. Pricing is based on the size of area treated.

Small areas include: the upper lip, chin, or underarms.

Medium areas include: full face, bikini, abdomen, forearms.

Large areas include: Upper back and shoulders, chest, lower legs (knees to toes), full arms.

Laser Vein Removal

A laser is a highly focused beam of light (laser) used to treat spider and varicose veins. The 1064nm laser heat damages a vein, which makes scar tissue form. This scar tissue closes the vein. A closed vein loses its source of blood and dies. After a few months, the vein is likely to disappear with the body's normal phagocytic functions. Laser vein removal treats unwanted spider veins, telangiectasias and cherry hemangiomas anywhere on the body. Usually, more than one laser session is needed. They are scheduled every 2-4 weeks. (If you have poor blood circulation feeding these tiny veins, the larger "feeder" vein (varicose veins) must first be treated with surgery, endovenous laser or radiofrequency treatment, or sclerotherapy.)

Potential side effects of any laser treatment include:

  • Skin burns

  • Skin coloring changes

  • Feelings of burning, pain, or prickling after recovery, from nerve damage

  • Small or large blood clotting in the vein or a deep vein

After vein removal treatment, compression stockings (heavy support) are to be worn immediately post-treatment and for 48 hours. They can be purchased at any pharmacy or medical device store or "scrub" shop in town.

PLEASE NOTE: Your appointment will be canceled if stockings are not present at the time of treatment.
