IPL Photofacial for Pigmentation & Redness

IPL (Intense Pulsed Light), sometimes called a photofacial, uses controlled pulses of light to target selected pigment and vascular concerns in the skin. It may be considered for concerns such as sun-related discoloration, age spots, uneven pigmentation and visible redness or small superficial vessels.

Treatment recommendations depend on your skin, the concern being treated and your individual response. Some patients may benefit from a series of treatments, while others may require a different approach based on their skin type or treatment goals.

IPL is not appropriate for every skin type or every form of pigmentation. Anna evaluates your skin before treatment to determine whether IPL is appropriate or whether another treatment would be a better choice.

PLEASE NOTE: this treatment is contraindicated in Melasma and will worsen pigment in those with this condition, a thorough skin assessment is required before this treatment and all Retin-A, retinoid-like, retinol products must be discontinued 2 weeks prior to treatment.

Laser Hair Removal

Laser Vein Removal

Laser treatment can be used for selected visible vascular concerns, including spider veins, telangiectasias and cherry angiomas. Treatment uses targeted laser energy to heat the unwanted vessel while minimizing injury to the surrounding skin. Over time, the treated vessel is gradually cleared by the body.

The number of treatments needed depends on the type, size and location of the vessels being treated. Some vascular concerns may be associated with larger underlying or “feeder” veins that require evaluation or treatment by an appropriate vascular specialist rather than cosmetic laser treatment.

At CA Skin & Body Clinic, we evaluate the area before treatment to determine whether laser treatment is appropriate for your particular concern. Treatment recommendations and aftercare are individualized based on the vessels being treated and your medical history.

Potential side effects of any laser treatment include:

Skin burns
Skin coloring changes
Feelings of burning, pain, or prickling after recovery, from nerve damage
Small or large blood clotting in the vein or a deep vein

Important: Compression stockings are required for applicable vein treatments and must be brought to your appointment. If the required stockings are not present at the time of treatment, the appointment will be canceled. We will provide instructions regarding the appropriate type and how long they should be worn following treatment.
